The Secret is Out: Intranet DASHBOARD winners at the APC Internet Technology Awards
APC’s readers nominated and then voted for the winners of the APC Internet Technology Awards 2007.
Overall Category Winner:
Telstra’s BigPond Wireless Broadband on the Next G network won Internet Technology of the Year at APC’s Internet Technology Awards.
BigPond’s Next G wireless broadband network was popular because wireless broadband delivered over Telstra’s next-generation 3G network has the broadest coverage of any mobile network in Australia with full broadband speed across the network.
It’s one of the earliest wide-scale commercial rollouts of HSDPA mobile technology in the world. APC readers recognised this as a major achievement.
Other key winners included Adelaide-based ISP Internode, which seems to have an unusually strong appeal for techies, winning both the consumer and business sub-categories of Best Broadband Operator.
We’re not surprised by Cisco’s dominance in the Networking categories, nor by Microsoft’s wins with its Visual Studio 2005 Team System, Sharepoint Server and SQL 2005 Server products, but some winners were a surprise. Quite frankly, we hadn’t even heard of some of them.
One was Melbourne-based The ADWEB Agency, whose product, Intranet Dashboard, won the Best Web Application category – and is enjoying phenomenal success in the US market. The company has managed to operate under the official secrets act – until outed by APC readers.
