Sweeney Research
Overview
Sweeney Research has been empowering Australian and international business leaders with illuminating consumer insights and qualitative data for the past 30 years. They implemented Intranet DASHBOARD (iD) to reduce the hidden cost of finding information.
Client Profile
Sweeney Research was established in 1972 by Brian Sweeney. The company has over 70 full time staff and approximately 150 casual staff in Melbourne and Sydney, and all shareholders and directors are employees actively involved in its operations. Sweeney Sports is also the leading specialist sports and sponsorship research consultancy in Australia.
The company is a founding member of the Association of Australian Market Research Organisations (AMRO), underlying Sweeney's commitment to meeting and defining best practice.
The Challenge
Sweeney Research had previously relied on telephone and email as the main form of communication. They found that information was often fragmented or lost. Navigating to, and finding information, was not intuitive through Windows Explorer and shared drives.
They also did not have a huge number of IT personnel to manage the intranet and were looking for a solution which would get them up and running quickly, without a dedicated IT department.
Client service had always been their most competitive advantage and they needed a way to leverage relationships with suppliers (extranet) in the future.

The business case for Sweeney Research
There are a number of features that made Intranet DASHBOARD the product of choice for Sweeney's intranet. These included:

Intranet DASHBOARD comes with a suite of over 40 applications. Under any other circumstances just one similar bespoke application such as the Document Manager could cost more than the entire iD package.
Sweeney's content focused on news and events, documents and current research topics. Tools of high priority for them included: |

- Calendar - company-wide and department specific calendaring
- Meeting Room Bookings - give users the ability to book meetings and resources
- Content publisher - using Word to publish HTML pages
- Ad manager - create promotions, highlight topics and clients
- Navigation editor - support a growing information architecture
- Layout Manager - Customise content and layout to suit users
- Document Manager and Quicklinks - enhance knowledge sharing
- Power Search - consolidated search across all applications, sites and documents
The Solution for Sweeney Research
Intranet DASHBOARD has become the central communication tool across all offices and departments. The efficiency they have achieved in finding business information has been considerable. It saves Sweeney money by reducing the time it takes to find updated information. The navigation is much more user friendly and it allows the company to link related information in a number of ways.

The system was up and running over two weeks. The structure was implemented in a matter of hours. Email was greatly reduced and Sweeney hope to undertake further process improvements using Intranet DASHBOARD tools in the future.
Sweeney Research purchased a consultation which took them through their content, information architecture and site build.
