Did you know you can create subsites as ‘children’ of other subsites? Child subsites sit within a subsite, a.k.a. the parent subsite. This is an easy way to organize your intranet’s URL structure, creating a well-structured, multi-level intranet. Child subsites will even inherit the security settings of their parent, making it simple to manage security settings across multiple sites.

Creating a child subsite couldn’t be easier. When you create the subsite, just enter the folder name as the parent folder name and the new folder name, separated by a forward slash ‘/’; see below:

This will create a ‘Flower Technology’ subsite as the child of the IT subsite. If the IT subsite doesn’t already exist, it will automatically be created at this point.

Just be careful if you ever decide to delete the parent, the child subsites disappear too. They move as a ‘family’ unit.
