SEEK’s new Intranet system helps it find with peace of mind

The company replaced its in-house intranet system with a smarter, easier tool from Intranet DASHBOARD late last year and has not looked back since.

While Seek, one of Australia’s top employment sites, was busy helping the public find jobs, its staff were struggling to find information they needed to do their jobs. Late last year the company tuned to an Intranet management solution, Intranet DASHBOARD (iD) and it has not looked back since.

SEEK’s job site attracts around 15,000 customers per month and has over 200,000 job ads on its site at any one time. The company also offers SEEK Learning, an online training and development business.

The company replaced its in-house developed intranet solution with Intranet DASHBOARD (iD) in October 2008, and it quickly became the single point of information and reference for SEEK’s 400 staff of 400.

Meahan Callaghan, SEEK’s Human Resources Director and project sponsor said that over 90 percent of the company use it for general employee communications, the phone list and social updates such people’s birthdays. About half of the staff use the customer facing content on a daily basis as part of their job.

Callaghan said one of the biggest benefits of the new system is that it does not need to be maintained and updated by the IT department: anyone in the business can use it.

It was chosen over competitors because it was the most cost effective and easiest to use.

“Training takes about 30 minutes — it is a very intuitive system,” said Callaghan.

The system is being used for customer facing content including process, product and system information, general company content which includes things like the history of seek, phone lists, HR policies and programs. It is also used for social information, including birthdays, anniversaries, a calendar for our social events and photos of recent events.
